Many days i ve been searching a good vegetarian restaurant at Karaikudi......, many suggested Malli, Annalakshmi, arya bhavan, aryas ....but all worth nothing but a regular tasteless dishes !!!!

Finally i found The happening place, Most busiest Dhaba / restaurant / fast food / Tiffin center ......you can call it what u feel like!!! but the wonder is almost its packed with guest at all the time, located just opposite to Pandiyan theater, when you enter the small pathway in between the complex ....you will be wondering why there is so much of people in this place.......cause there is nothing fascinating but you see a hostel mess like!!!!!

Just few thatched roof sheds, one is with more than 15 to 20 cooks on fire handling the ranges and more than 50 people waiting at the counter for parcel, the next big shed with small tables and chairs on the top of river sands (no flooring though!!!!) can accommodate 60 pax and in the open air you will find lot of chairs & table for 50 pax.......of course there are always people standing outside to wait for their seat!!!!

There is always a unique point that when you stimulated the peoples taste bud.....you don't need anything more to showcase your place......

Okie just enter to the world of Presidents menu:

Morning breakfast just like any other place same varieties but with good chutney varieties,

Lunch - No meals but Variety rice with Tiffin varieties, and no wonder they serve many unique Indian & Tandoori varieties ....here what they succeeded cause at a affordable prize they serve tasty Indian food and that's why its always full with family guests i guess!!!! 

The evening snack parade with appam, paniyaram, kuzhalappam, idiyappam, adai avial, then kuzhal, ......etc almost many chettinad snacks with very less of oil ( in general every place its with too much oil, including in their homes- many time i got in to trouble eating at chettinad home)

The most wanted is their dinner with full board menu, especially their Idlys & parathas, much soft and less oil like a sponge ......dont miss to start your dinner with this!!! 

Varieties of dosa - my choice is always the Poondu dosa (garlic dosa) , apart they have paneer, masala, mushroom, gobi, vegetable dosa and adai avial, idiyappam kurma....... chilly paratha, kothu paratha, kalan paratha....etc,

North indian dishes like naan, gravy, Dry dishes followed with choola puri and many more....

The price is much much cheaper than anywhere the best place i know in these sector and the quality and quantity is much superior !!!!

and you never have to wait at any point of time for your next dish and its as quick as you expect and its just been prepared in front of you !!!

So next time you visit Karaikudi dont miss to step in to Mr. President........

when My recent visit to karaikudi, me and my chairman is looking for a Typical chettinadu mess at Karaikudi, friend of us taken  privilege of taking us to this wonderful place, "Priya Mess" Karaikudi running by a family a husband, wife, and his sister.......

The couples alone cooking the entire variety and running the entire operations, the man welcome you with his wonderful smile...as soon as you ve seated, the wife come and place a banana leaf and they just ask you veg or non veg ......and the variety follows,

A solid meal with chicken, Mutton, meen - kozhambu and the side dishes Crab masala, era masala, mutton sukka, kozhi roast, Fish fry....all are cooked with house grind masala and you can feel the authenticity in each dish.......less oil, necessary spices, they are maintaining the same taste for the past 44 years, the secret recipe has been followed all these years, thats what made them be unique in the homely running mess business,

They serve with utmost care and some time kindly force you to eat the whole meal or taste the special dishes, and one thing is sure that their kindness will make you remember that you are dining at your grandmother's place!!!!!

In fact among all the non veg crowd when i say i am vegetarian immediately they stepped in to the house and brought me Vathal Kuzhambu, Mandi, Poricha Appalam....what more you need to explain about their service, thats what Priya mess, they go out of the way to eat good and make you happy!!!

But pls dont expect any modern amenities as they have made it as a home business (in fact they live inside) even you dont have fan when there are no power .......but for a good food, motherly service and wonderful experience......cant you sacrifice your sophistication a bit!!!!
